A walk through Beijing will show that something as simple as a bridge across a small river or stream receives no less thought and planning than a piece of art. An understanding of harmony can be seen in the way that each and every piece of architecture compliments the one next to it.

At the same time, two adjacent buildings that seem to form a part of a larger picture are owned by completely separate companies or businesses. Without any effort at all, it seems that the two people have been working together for years to coordinate their building. It even seems as if where the trash containers outside the buildings are placed is part of some grand scheme known only to the people of Beijing.

It is not surprising that those visiting from other countries may not fully understand the ways of Beijing. These customs and traditions were developed over thousands of years. This history threads back through time thousands of years. This can make a country such as the United States seem young in comparison.

This history is not just seen in the books and museums of Beijing, but in the architecture and even in the way that the people move. Gazing upon such sites as the “Forbidden City” can be hypnotic. This palace housed the Emperors of China for many years and generations. It has not even been that long since only a select group of people can stand inside its walls.

Pride, heritage, and tradition are the building blocks of Beijing. In the midst of all this can be found, albeit slightly hidden, some of the most advanced technology in the world. Business is being done day and night as computers churn away, trading stocks and hosting websites. Companies with coffers that rival small countries lie amidst the ancient buildings.

The desks of these companies aligned perfectly and their placement precise and planned to allow the proper flow of energy through the room. These powerful and imposing buildings reach to the sky in a display that is awe inspiring.

Beijing has seen wars and famine, financial ruin and overwhelming opulence, and bloodshed next to the birth of religions. The streets have seen the footsteps of slaves and kings and as a visitor steps upon the same roadways that have carried people since the beginning of civilized man, the visitor feels history.

There is not a single person that should not visit Beijing at least once in their lifetime.

5. Hahndorf German settlement

My amazing trip Australia

My trip to Australia last month was certainly a trip that I will never forget. It was all planned out by my girlfriend who happened to live in Sydney. She has been studying there for almost a year now and so I had the best tour guide in town. She immediately was excited about my trip and when I finally arrived, we went straight into the different tourist spots. She first took me to the beautiful city of Sydney and I was certainly amazed with their restaurants and how many choices the city had. The locals were definitely welcoming and I was amazed with I felt like I fit into the city. Here are a few things that I was able to do during my trip to Australia.

Golf courses

If you are an avid golfer, there really is nothing like being able to play a few rounds in Australia. The country has been the home to many of the best golfers today and it continues to grow as one of the most played sports in the country. Australians have truly been open to golf and have shown a lot of interest towards the sport. Jason Day and Greg Norman have been some of the most famous golfers to come out of Australia and continue to pave the way for young Australian golfers. When I went to Australia, I saw literally a golf course in every city and enjoy a few rounds. The tough part was trying to find time for a good round of 18 holes. I just made sure that I had my credit cards as it an be quite expensive to play the courses.

Learn to surf

When I think of Australia, I normally tend to envision beaches and awesome waves and so this led me to want to learn how to surf. At first I was not sure whether or not I would like to learn but then realized that this was going to be fun. I got some lessons and was able to survive my first few visits to Manly beach. When I found my way to Bondi beach, I realized that it was just as beautiful as Manly and realized why it was named one of the most popular beaches in the country. I was then able to simply enjoy the beaches with my girlfriend and we had a blast during my vacation.

Tropfest

Every February in Sydney, there is a huge short film festival that truly makes for a wonderful experience. The city lights up with over 150,000 people watching short films made by amateurs and professionals. The beauty of the event is that it is the only of the year where people actually gather around to watch short films and Tropfest has grown to be the main platform for budding filmmakers. One of the best films of 2012 would be The Placebo Effect by an amateur filmmaker in the Philippines. He was able to capture the crowd’s attention and win the 2012 event.

Overall, my experience in Australia was one that I will never forget. I came home with hundreds of pictures and made some new friends along the way. Though it was tough for me to fully understand the culture in a short period of time, I realized that this is certainly a city that I would like to live in within the next few years. Thanks to my girlfriend and her friends, I would love to move to Sydney and start my career there. If you are looking for a great vacation spot, there is truly nothing like Australia.

The Great Barrier Reef is not one single reef but is composed of over 2900 individual reefs and has been in the making for over 8000, since the last ice age. The reef stretches over 2600 kilometres with over 900 islands covering 345,400 square kilometres making it so large that it is a natural wonder, which can be viewed from outer space.
